Caution
Removing the VMFA fan assembly
1. Remove and retain the fan assembly holding screws as follows (see Figure
6):
When the four fan assembly holding screws have been removed, the fan unit is
only supported in the cabinet by the backplane connector. Do not let go of the fan
assembly after releasing the screws.
a. Three T10 Torx screws on the right-hand side of the assembly.
b. One T25 Torx screw on the front of the assembly.
Hold the fan unit in place and proceed to the next step.
2. Loosen cooling fan assembly from the backplane connector by moving it
slightly backwards and forwards in the cabinet. The backplane connector
is on the left hand side of the cabinet.
Pull the fan assembly out of the connector and out from the bottom of the
cabinet.
