Policy on
non-FRU parts
Non-FRU parts are:
Items unlikely to fail, but replacement of which is essential if failure occurs.
or
Subsections of FRUs, where local conditions may make it more
economical to repair the FRU.
CAUTION
Only qualified personnel should attempt non-FRU
replacement, in order to minimize risk of equipment
damage. For example, the CBIA main cage requires care
in removal and installation, and Individual fans require
care in ensuring correct direction of airflow.
List of non-FRU
parts
Non-FRU parts include the following:
Door lock.
Individual fans within a fan module.
Any part of the CBIA: main cage, harness, door sensor, interface panel,
or backplane.
Procedure for
replacing
non-FRU parts
Customers requiring non-FRU replacement should:
1. Contact the local Motorola office for availability.
2. Seek Motorola advice for fitting non-FRU parts.

screws
The CBIA is attached to the cabinet by screws which should not be loosened:
Seven M4 screws to SURF harness (two guide pins lock cage into
position).
Four M6 (left side) and five M6 (right side) screws at cabinet front.
Eight M6 T30 screws for interface panel attachment to top panel.
