5.6.1 When splicing is required
Splices are required for the following reasons:
• The cable runs are too long for one straight cable pull
• You need to mix a number of different types of cable
• You need to connect a buried cable.

Mechanical splicing
Mechanical splicing employs a splicing machine intended to vi
