When set to [ON], the orientation information of the camera
at the time o
f shooting is stored in pictures. When viewed on
a camera or computer, the pictures are automatically rotated
according to the stored orientation information.
When set to [OFF], the orientation information of the camera at
the time o
f shooting is not stored in pictures. As such, pictures
will not be automatically rotated during playback and always
displayed in landscape (wide) orientation.

If the camera is facing upward or downward or is panned while shooting, the correct orientation
information may not be stored.

When [Auto-rotate pictures] is set to [OFF], images are always displayed in landscape (wide)
orientation when played back on the camera, regardless of whether [Auto image rotation] is set to
[ON] or [OFF].
If [Auto-rotate pictures] is set to [ON] while [Auto image rotation] is set to [OFF], pictures will not
be automatically rotated during playback and always displayed in landscape (wide) orientation.
