Pall
The Built-in Flash
When shooting a
dimly
lit, or backlit, subject in
A~
(auto) mode, the built-in flash will
pop
up
automatically when the shutter-release
button
is
pressed halfway. When using the flash, remove the
lens hood
to
prevent its shadow from appearing
in
photographs.
If the flash
is
required, picture can only be taken while the flash-ready
indicator
(t)
is
displayed. If the flash-ready indicator
is
not
displayed,
the flash
is
charging and pictures cannot be taken even
if
the
flash
is
up. Wait until
~
is
displayed.
In
A8'
(auto)
mode
with
auto flash
mode
enabled,
the
flash will
not
fire, even
if
it
has
popped
up
automatically,
if
the
subject
is
already suffiCiently lit. Pictures can also be taken
when
~
is
not
displayed.
Select
<i)
Auto (flash oft)
mode
(!E
36)
to
prevent
the
flash from firing when lighting
is
poor.

Flash
range varies
with
aperture and
ISO
sensitivity

179).
When
the
flash
is
not
in
use,
return it
to
its closed position by pressing it
gently
downward
until
it
clicks
into
place.

or
if
the
subject
is
judged
to
be

beep indicating
that
the subjects

in focus will
not
sound.
