3 Frame a photograph
in
the viewfinder.
3.1
Hold
the
camera
as
shown.
Holding
the

Hold
the
handgrip
in
your right hand and cradle
the
camera
body
or
lens
with
your left. Keep your elbows
propped
lightly
against your torso for support and place one
foot
half a pace
ahead
of
the other
to
stable.
3.2
Frame a
photo
in
the viewfinder
with
the
main subject
positioned
in
any
of
the three focus
areas.
Use
the
zoom ring
to
zoom in on
the
subject
so
that
it fills a larger
area
of
the
frame, or zoom
out
to
increase the
area
visible
in
the
final photograph (select longer focal lengths
to
zoom in, shorter
focaI
to
zoom
4 Focus and shoot.
4.1
Press
the
shutter-release
button
halfway. The camera will
automatically select the focus
area
containing
the
subject
closest
to
the camera and focus on this subject. If
the
sub-
ject
is
dark, the
AF-assist
illuminator may
light
to
assist
the
focus operation and the flash may
pop
up. The
monitor
will turn off.
When
the
focus operation
is
complete, the selected focus
area
will be highlighted, a beep will sound, and
the
in-
focus indicator
(e)
will appear in
the
viewfinder. The
num-
ber
of
exposures
that
can
be stored in the
memory
buffer
("r";
32)
is
shown in the viewfinder display while
the
shutter-release
button
is
pressed halfway.
