Focus
This section describes the focus options available when photographs are framed in
the viewfinder.
Focus Mode
Choose from the following focus modes. Note that AF-S and AF-C are available only in
modes
P, S, A, and M.

E8 AF-( Continuous-
servoAF
Camera automatically selects single-servo autofocus if subject is
AF-A Auto-servo 'I stationary, continuous-servo autofocus if subject is moving. Shutter can

J only be released if camera is able to focus.
AF-S Single-servo IFor stationary subjects. Focus locks when shutter-release button is
AF Ipressed halfway. Shutter can only be released if camera is able to focus.
I -
IFor moving subjects. Camera focuses continuously while shutter-
Irelease button is pressed halfway. If subject moves, camera will engage
Ipredictive focus tracking to predict final distance to subject and adjust
Ifocus
as necessary. At default settings, shutter can only be released if
Icamera is able to focus.
MF M If IFocus using the lens focus ring (ifthe lens is equipped with an M/A-M or
anua_ OC_~~J A-M mode switch, slide the switch to Mbefore focusing).
1 Place the cursor in the information display.
If shooting information is not displayed in the monitor, press the ~II~ button.
Press the ~II~ button again to place the cursor in the information display.
2 Display focus-mode options.
Highlight the current focus mode in the
information display and
press @.
