Focus
This section describes the focus options available when photographs
are
framed in
the viewfinder.
Focus
Mode
Choose from the following focus modes. Note that
AF-S
and
AF-C
are
available only in
modes
P,
S,
A,
and
M.

Continuous-

Camera automatically selects single-servo autofocus
if
subject
is
AF-A
Auto-servo

stationary, continuous-servo autofocus
if
subject
is
moving. Shutter can

be released
if
camera

able
to
focus.
AF-S
Single-servo IFor stationary subjects. Focus locks when shutter-release
button
is
AF
Ipressed halfway. Shutter can
only
be released
if
camera
is
able
to
focus.

IFor
moving
subjects. Camera focuses continuously while shutter-
Irelease
button
is
pressed halfway.
If
subject moves, camera will
engage
Ipredictive focus tracking
to
predict final distance
to
subject and adjust
Ifocus
as
necessary. At
default
settings, shutter can
only
be released
if
Icamera
is
able
to
focus.

If

the
lens focus ring
(ifthe
lens
is
equipped
with
an
M/A-M
or

switch, slide
the
switch
to
Mbefore focusing).

displayed in the monitor,
