Optional Flash Units (5peedlights)
The following Speedlights can only be used in non-TIL auto and manual modes at shutter
speeds
of

or slower.
Flash
charge state
is
shown by the Speedlight flash-ready
indicator.
In
TIL
mode, the shutter-release
button
will lock and
no
photographs can be
taken.

Modes
When
an
optional Speedlight
is
attached,
the
built-in flash turns off.
•
Auto
flash
mode
is
canceled, and
the
optional Speed
light
will fire whenever a
photograph
is
taken.
If
the
flash
mode
is
set
to
off, fill flash
is
automatically
applied.
• When using
an
optional 5peedlight in
~
or
~
mode, flash
mode
is
automatically set
to
fill flash.
Red-eye reduction
mode
can also be selected.
• When flash
output
is
compensated using S8-800
or
S8-600 Speedlight, or 5U-800 Wireless
5peedlight
Commander,
DB
(flash compensation indicator for optional Speedlight) will be
displayed at
the
top
of
Shooting information display.
• The optional Speedlight will
not
fire
when
the
mode
dial
is
rotated
to

Use Only Nikon Flash Accessories
Use
only
Nikon Speedlights. Negative voltages
or
voltages over 250 V applied
to
the
accessory shoe
could
not
only
prevent normal operation,
but
damage
the
sync circuitry
of
the
camera or flash.

The Sync Terminal
Adapter
AS-15
When
the
Sync Terminal Adapter
AS-15
(available separately)
is
mounted
on
the
camera accessory
shoe, flash accessories can be connected via a sync cable.
