Introduction
This manual covers the following products:
The GOSTREAM BRD openGear® Multi-Standard Decoder card
The GOSTREAM BRD standalone Multi-Standard Decoder appliance
All products have the same set of features, and essentially the same user interface. Unless
specifically indicated, all features and controls described in this manual apply to all products.
The decoders have the following features:
Multi-Standard Decoder (MPEG-2 and H.264), with support for both SD (Standard
Definition) and HD (High Definition) content.
Resolution resizing support (both upscale and downscale support).
Frame rate conversion.
Audio decoding support: MPEG-1 Layer III, AAC-LC, HE-AAC and Dolby AC-3.
ASI input and output ports. All ports support the full ASI line rate of 213 Mb/s.
Ethernet port for streaming with 100/1000 Mb/s support.
Internet Protocol support:
o UDP/RTP/SMPTE-2022 auto-sensing
o HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) client
o RTMP Client mode connects to an RTMP server and plays the content
o RTMP Server mode accepts connections from an RTMP encoder
o RTSP Client mode connects to an RTSP server, such as a camera, and plays the
content
(P)SI and ATSC table parsing.
The GOSTREAM BRD stand-alone includes one additional Ethernet port for control and
management.
Typical application scenarios for the BRD are:
Contribution and Distribution: reception of MPEG-2/H.264 content.
Contribution feeds over the Internet.
Ingestion of traffic cameras for broadcast use.
Product Overview
The BRD is a multi-standard broadcast decoder with the following features:
Video Decoding: MPEG-2 and H.264 4:2:0 High Profile video streams with resolution up
to 1920×1080p60.
