Net work Address Translation ( NAT) allows m ult iple users at your local site t o
access t he I nt ernet t hrough a single Public I P Address. NAT provides Firewall
protection from hacker at tacks and has t he flexibilit y t o allow you t o m ap
Privat e I P Addresses t o Public I P Addresses for key services such as Websit es
and FTP.

I f you have a local client PC that cannot run an I nt ernet applicat ion (e.g. Gam es)
properly from behind the NAT firewall, then you can open t he client up t o
unrest ricted t wo- way I nt ernet access by defining a DMZ Host . The DMZ
funct ion allows you t o re- direct all packet s going t o your WAN port I P address t o
