Cha pt er 4 hardw a r e connect ion
Begin by finding a good place t o set up your wireless broadband. Som e t hings
to consider:

z Keep t he access point as central in your work area as possible. Signal
st rengt h and speed fall off with dist ance.
z Higher is often bett er. For inst ance, set it up on the t op shelf of a bookcase
rat her t han the bot tom one, if possible.
4 .1 Conne ct ing t he W ir eless Broadband Rout e r
Prior t o connect ing t he hardware, m ake sure to power off your Et hernet device,
Cable/ ADSL m odem and Wireless Broadband Rout er. Then follow t he st eps
below t o connect t he relat ed devices.
St ep 1 : Connectin g your com put er t o t h e LAN port.
At tach one end of t he Ethernet cable wit h RJ- 45 connect or to your hub, swit ch
or a com put er’s Ethernet port , and t he other end t o one of t he LAN port s of your
Wireless Broadband Router.
St e p 2 : Con n ect ing Ca ble/ ADSL M odem t o t h e W AN por t .
Connect t he Ethernet cable at t aching to your Cable/ ADSL m odem t o t he WAN
port of your Wireless Broadband Rout er.
St e p 3 : Connect in g t he pow er a da pt e r .
Connect the single DC output connect or of t he power adapter t o the power j ack
on t he side of t he Wir eless Broadband Rout er. Then plug t he Power Adapt er int o
an AC out let,
St ep 4 : Pow er on t h e follow in g device s in t h is order: Ca ble/ AD SL
m ode m , Rout er, and PCs.
