Introduction

This guide provides the required information to configure the NETGEAR 8800

software in the

currently supported versions running on NETGEAR switches.

This guide is intended for use by network administrators who are responsible for installing and

setting up network equipment. Working knowledge of the following is assumed:

• Local area networks (LANs)

• Ethernet concepts

• Ethernet switching and bridging concepts

• Routing concepts

• Internet Protocol (IP) concepts

• Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)

• Border Gateway Protocol (BGP-4) concepts

• IP multicast concepts

• Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) concepts

• Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
