5-10 Using FirstGear to Configure Internet Access
The Advanced Router Configuration window contains tabs that can be selected in any order to
customize the configuration of the router. The tabs and functions of the Advanced Router
Configuration screen are described in Table 5-1.
At the top of the Advanced Setup screen is a menu bar listing File, View, and Help options.
You can begin with a partial configuration from the Internet Access Wizard or a current
configuration uploaded from the router. With a few exceptions, any changes made in the Advanced
Setup menus are not applied until you click on the Save to Router button at the top of the window
to send the configuration to the router.
Table 5-1. Advanced Router Configuration Tabs
Field Description
General Configures the router name and contact information.
ISDN Contains the ISDN line configuration information and settings for ISDN Advanced Calling
Features.
Ethernet Configures the TCP/IP and DHCP settings for the LAN interface.
Remote Node Configures the connection to a remote LAN.
Static Routes Lets you view and enter static IP routes.
System
Password
Changes the password for the router’s configuration access.
System Status Displays line status, dynamic data related to calls, and accumulated statistics.
Log & Trace Displays error and progress logs and configures syslog transmissions.
Diagnostic Lets you test connections, reset ISDN, and reboot the router.
System Update Lets you update the router software or clear the configuration.
