Reference Guide for the Model RT338 ISDN Router
Initial Router Configuration 4-13
You can also configure the router to act as a DHCP relay. In this case, the router obtains TCP/IP
configuration information from a remote DHCP server and distributes the information to local
PCs.
If you are setting up your network for the first time, read about IP addresses starting with “IP
Addresses and the Internet” on page 1-7 and “IP Configuration by DHCP” on page 1-15 for an
explanation of DHCP and information about how to assign IP addresses for your network.
For most applications, the default TCP/IP and DHCP settings of the router are satisfactory.
These settings are:
The routers LAN IP address is 192.168.0.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
The routers DHCP server is enabled with 32 client addresses starting from 192.168.0.1.
The routers LAN IP address is assigned as the default gateway.
DNS proxy is enabled (the routers LAN IP address is assigned as DNS server).
