UNIX Syslog and Accounting
You can configure the router to send UNIX system logs to another machine. Use Menu 24.3.2 -
System Maintenance - UNIX Syslog and Accounting to configure UNIX Syslog and Accounting
as shown in Figure 11-5.

You must configure the parameters to activate syslog. Table 11-5 lists the fields, commands, and
command descriptions for Menu 24.3.2 - System Maintenance - Syslog and Accounting.
Table 11-5. System Maintenance - Syslog and Accounting Fields
Field Command Description
Active Press the space bar to toggle between
yes and no.
The syslog option is turned on or off.
Syslog IP Address Enter the address in dotted-decimal
notation such as a.b.c.d where a, b, c,
and d are numbers between 0 and 255.
This field is the IP address location to
send your syslog.
Log Facility Press the space bar to toggle between
on and off.
Seven different local options can be
selected. The log facility allows the
message to be logged to different files in
the server. Refer to your UNIX manual
for more detail.
