Creating and Deleting Groups by Name
To create a local group by name:
1. Select User Management > Groups from the menu. The Groups screen displays (Figure 5-1
contains one example).
The List of Groups table displays the local groups with the following fields:
• Name. The name of the group, which is the defining characteristic of the group.
• Brief Description. An optional brief description of the group.
• Action. The edit table button that provides access to the Edit Group screen and the delete
table button that allows you to delete the group.
2. In the Add New Group section of the screen, complete the fields as explained in Table 5-1.
Note: If you use groups on a remote device, you must configure your network’s
firewall to allow access to the IP address and subnet mask that have been
assigned to the remote group.

Setting Description
Name A descriptive (alphanumeric) name of the group for identification and management
purposes.
Description A brief description of the group for identification and management purposes. This
description is optional.
