NMS300 Network Management System
Job Setup
The NMS300 system supports regular and time-consuming jobs that are used for
configuration and management tasks. You can schedule these jobs for future execution on a
one-time basis or on a recurrent basis for batch operations.
The NMS300 system provides wizards to create the following types of jobs:
Configuration file backup. Both one-time and recurrent jobs are supported. For more
information, see Schedule a Backup Procedure on page 63.
Configuration file restore. One-time jobs are supported. For more information, see
Schedule a Restore Procedure on page 81.
Firmware upgrade. One-time jobs are supported. For more information, see Schedule a
Firmware Upgrade on page 90.
Report generation. Both one-time and recurrent jobs are supported. For more
information, see Generate a Scheduled Report on page 137.
Resource discovery. Both one-time and recurrent jobs are supported. For more
information, see Schedule a Discovery Procedure on page 28.
Output files from completed jobs are saved for the data retention period. For more
information, see Data Retention Period on page 153.
Job Control
You can view job detail and status information. You can also enable, disable, and delete jobs.
When you delete any of the following items from the Jobs list, the NMS300 system deletes its
corresponding profile or template from its database:
Discovery job.
You can create a discovery profile. For more information, see Add a
Discovery Profile on page 24.
Backup job.
You can create a new backup profile. For more information, see Add a
Device Backup Profile on page 59.
Report generation job.
You can create a report template. For more information, see
Manage the Report Templates on page 131.
When you delete any of the following items from the Jobs list, the NMS300 system does not
delete the related file from its database:
Restore configuration job. To remove the configuration file from the NMS300 database,
you have to delete the configuration file manually. For more information, see Restore
Your Device Configurations on page 67.
Firmware upgrade job.
To remove the firmware file from the NMS300 database, you
have to delete the firmware file manually. For more information, see Upgrade Your Device
Firmware on page 82.
