Maintain or Troubleshoot the Switch User Manual377
Reset the switch to its factory default
settings
You can reset the system configuration to the factory default values. All changes that you
made are lost. If the IP address changes, your web session might disconnect.
Note: If you reset the switch to the default configuration, the IP address is
reset to 192.168.0.239, and the DHCP client is enabled. If you lose
network connectivity after you reset the switch to the factory defaults,
see
Access the switch on-network and connected to the Internet on
page 19 or Access the switch off-network and not connected to the
Internet on page 27.
If you reset the switch to factory default settings, you can select to either maintain the
NETGEAR registration status or reset the NETGEAR registration status. In the latter
situation, you must reregister the switch with NETGEAR.
Reset the switch to factory default settings but maintain the
registration status
You can use the device UI to reset the switch to the factory default settings but maintain the
registration status.
However, if you can physically access the switch, you can press a button on the front panel to
reset the switch to factory default settings but maintain the registration status:
Model GS724TPv2. Press the dual-function Factory Defaults button for more than one
second but less than 10 seconds. (Do not press the button for more than 10 seconds!)
Model GS724TPP. Press the multi-function Reset button for more than five seconds but
less than 10 seconds. (Do not press the button for more than 10 seconds!)
To use the device UI to reset the switch to the factory default settings
but maintain the
registration status:
1. Connect your computer to the same network as the switch.
You can use a WiFi or wired connection to connect your computer to the network, or
connect directly to a switch that is off-network using an Ether
net cable.
2. Launch a web browser.
3. In the address field of your web browser, enter the IP address of the switch.
If you do not know the IP address of the switch, see
Access the switch on-network and
connected to the Internet on page 19 or Access the switch off-network and not
