connectsusingEDGEservice.
Oncetheconnectionisestablished,youhaveaccesstoall
Internetservices.
Your account and coverage area
Note: If you purchased the
AirCard modem from a GSM
service provider, you may
already have an account and a
SIM card. Otherwise, your
retailer should be able to give
you the names of companies
that provide these items.
CompaniesthatoperateGSMnetworksandprovideaccessto
thosenetworksarecalledserviceproviders.Youmusthavean
accountwithaGSMserviceprovidertousetheAirCard
modem.Tousethemodem’s3Gcapability,youraccountmust
bewithaserviceproviderthatoffersHSDPA/HSUPAor
UMTSservice.(The
AirCardmodemisbackwardscompatible
with2Gservice.)
Whenyouobtainyouraccount,youaregivenaSubscriber
IdentityModule(SIM)card,alsocalledasmartcardorsmart
chip.TheSIMcardcontainsaccountinformationandmustbe
insertedintheAirCardmodembeforeyouuseit.
Beforeyoucan
usetheAirCardmodem,youmustinstallthe
AirCardmodemsoftwareandensurethatyourA irCard
modemisconfiguredtouseyouraccount.
OncethesoftwareisinstalledandyourAirCardmodemis
configured,youcanconnecttotheInternetwiththeAirCard
modeminanyareawhereyoucanobtain
GPRS,EDGE,
UMTS,orHSDPA/HSUPAservice.
