5: Care and Maintenance of Your
AirCard Modem
Aswithanyelectronicdevice,theAirCardmodemmustbe
handledwithcaretoensurereliableoperation.Followthese
guidelineswhenyouuseandstoreyourAirCardmodem:
• DonotapplyadhesivelabelstotheAirCardmodemor
SIMcard.ThismaycausetheAirCardmodemorSIMcard
to
becomejammedinsidetheslot,orpreventitfrombeing
insertedproperly.
• Whennotinstalledinyourcomputer,storetheAirCard
modemandSIMcardinasafeplace.
• TheAirCardmodemshouldfiteasilyintoyour
computer’sPC Card/ExpressCardslotorUSBport.
ForcingtheAirCardmodemintotheslot/portmay

damagetheconnectorpins.
• ProtecttheAirCardmodemfromliquids,dust,and
excessiveheat.(SeetheEnvironmentalspecificationson
page 53forthemaximumtolerances.)
• ForAirCardmodemwithexternalantennas,optimal
signalstrengthisusuallyobtainedwhentheantennais
pointingstraightup.Theantennashouldbendeasilyat
the
hinge.Donotforcefullybendtheantenna.
