The SIM card and your account
TouseyourAirCardmodem,youneedaGSMaccountanda
SIMcard.TheSIMcardisasmallchipaboutthesizeofa
postagestampthatyouinsertintotheAirCardmodem.The
SIMcardcontainsaccountinformationusedbythenetworkto
validateyouraccess.
Note: Without a valid SIM card
and account, your AirCard
modem will not work.
DependingonhowyoupurchasedyourAirCardmodem,you
mayalreadyhaveanaccount.Inthiscase,theSIMcardshould
beincludedinyourpackage.Otherwise,yourretailercan
directyoutoalocalcompanythatprovides GSMservice.
Toactivateanaccount,theserviceproviderneeds:
Billinginformation(such
asacreditcardnumber)to
collectpaymentforyournetworkusage.
TheInternationalMobileEquipmentIdentity(IMEI),
thoughthisrequirementdependsonyourservice
provider.Thisnumber,printedontheAirCardmodem
boxandontheAirCardmodemlabel,identifiesyour
AirCardmodemmodelontheGSMnetwork.
Note: Keep a written record in a
secure place of the account
information that your service
provider gives you.
IfyouchangeGSMserviceprovidersyouwillneedanewSIM
cardfromyournewserviceprovider.Youwillalsoneedtoset
upanewprofile.See“Settingupaprofile”onpage 30for
instructionsoncreatinganewprofile.
