Setting up a profile
Determining whether you have a profile
1. InserttheSIMcardintotheAirCardmodemifitisnot
alreadyinserted.
2. InserttheAirCardmodemintoyourcomputer.
3. If3GWatcherisnotrunning,start3GWatcherbysel ecting
Start > Programs > Sierra Wireless > 3G Watcher > 3G Watcher
orbydouble‐clickingthedesktopshortcut.
4. Click
Connect.
If3GWatcherdetectsthatnoprofilehasbeensetup,you
areprompted,“Would you like to configure a profile now?”
Select
Yes.
Ifthispromptdoesnotappear,yourAirCardmodemmay
havebeenpreconfigured.Youcanverifythatyouhavea
profilebyselecting
Tools>ConnectionstoaccesstheProfiles
taboftheConnectionswindow,whichlistsallprofiles.
Creating a profile
1. IntheConnectionswindow,Clicktheaddbuttonand
click
WWAN profile.
2. Ifyouwanttouseapre‐definedprofile,selecttheprofile
fromthedrop‐downlistinthe
Profile Namefield.Thenskip
toStep5.
3. CompletethefieldsintheGeneralwindowbyenteringa
Profile Name(anymeaningfuldescriptionoftheprofile,
suchasthenameofyourserviceprovider)and
User Name,
Password,and/orAPN,ifapplicable.
4. Selectwhetheryouwanttomakeconnectionsautomati‐
cally,manually,orwhetheryouarerequiredtoprovidea
passwordeachtimeyoumakeaconnection:
· Ifyouselect
Autoconnect for the default profile,a
connectionisestablishedautomaticallywheneveryou
inserttheAirCardmodem.
· Ifyouselect
Manual,youmustclicktheConnectbutton
onthemain3GWatcherwindowtomakeaconnection.
· Ifyouselect
Prompt for Password,youmustclickConnect
andenterapasswordeachtimeyoumakeaconnection.
Usethisoptionifyouhaveanexternal devicethat 
providesatime‐scheduledsecurepasswo rdforyour
corporatenetwork.
