NETATMO TIPS ON HOW TO BETTER PROTECT
YOUR HOME FOR PEACEFUL SUMMER TRAVEL?
Netatmo recommends a few precautions you should take when going on
vacation. Here are a few tips on how best to protect your home against the
risk of burglary during the summer months:
1. Opt for security cameras. Thanks
to their artificial intelligence algorithms,
Welcome and Presence bring home
security to a whole new level. Instead
of the usual monitoring systems that
require a human analysis, Welcome, the indoor security
camera, sends a notification in real time directly to the
user’s smartphone alerting when an intruder has been
detected, complete with a picture of their face and a video
of the intruder.
Presence, the outdoor security camera, detects and
reports people, cars and animals. Placed outside the
home, the camera analyzes in real time if someone loiters
around the home, if a car enters the driveway, or if a pet
is in the yard.
2. Install presence simulators outside
and inside the home.
For the outside
area, Netatmo’s Presence outdoor security
camera features a floodlight that comes
on automatically if movement is detected
to deter potential burglars. It can also be switched on
manually and remotely via an app, for those on the go.
You can also set a timer to randomly switch on the lights
on turn on your radio and television to give potential
intruders the impression that someone is home.
3. Ask your neighbours to check on
your apartment or house
to make sure
there is no suspicious activity around your
home. They can also make sure that doors
and windows stay closed and pick up
your mail. An overflowing mailbox is a sign to others that
nobody is home.
4. Keep your valuables in a safe or
hide them
to ensure they cannot be seen
through windows of rooms that do not
have shutters.
6. Do not leave keys in obvious places,
such as under a doormat, in a flower pot
or in the mailbox . It is better to leave them
to someone you trust, like a neighbor or a
friend.
7. Never indicate that you are away,
even for a short period of time, or
post your vacation dates on social
networks.
Burglars often check information
shared through social media.
5. Have a three-point locking system
installed on the main door
to reinforce
it. Lock all entry points before leaving.
Bay windows, garage doors, upstairs and
downstairs windows should all be closed
carefully.
