9.2.1.2 Frames per second tab
Determines the rate for the selected Nero Digital™ file. Nero Recode uses the source frame
rate as the default when the selected Nero Digital™ profile permits.
The following input options are available:
Frames per second area:
Automatic (recom-

Automatically selects how many frames per minute to show.
User-defined rate

Enables the Target rate drop-down menu.

Selects how many frames per second to show.
Motion-adaptive
conversion (slower,
but higher quality)

Enables Motion-adaptive conversion, which achieves a
higher video quality. Even quick motion sequences are ex-
tremely sharp and detailed with motion-adaptive conversion.
However, burning is slower.
9.2.1.3 Crop tab
If the DVD-Video has black borders at the sides, these can be cut off (cropped) automati-
cally. This reduces the size of the video and thereby improves its quality. Nero Recode rec-
ognizes these borders automatically and edits them out as standard.
The following input options are available:
Crop area:

Detects black borders and edits these out. Default setting.
Custom Crop
option button
Enables the four text boxes for cropping (top, bottom, right,
left) and the Adjust button.
Adjust
button
Opens a dialog box and displays a frame from the video.
You can use the mouse to define the four cropping areas
(top, bottom, left, right) by hand. The button is only enabled if
the Custom Crop option is selected.
Disable
option button
Allows the video to be converted without cropping the bor-
ders.
9.2.1.4 Resolution tab
Selecting a Nero Digital™ profile for converting the DVD-Video title to MPEG-4 format de-
fines by default the size of the frame to be generated.
The following input options are available:
Resolution area
Automatic (recom-
mended)

Automatically adjusts the frame size to the Nero Digital™
profile so that the frame size generated matches the output
medium.
Custom resize

Activates the two text boxes for the page format (width and
height). The values to be entered must be multiples of 16 and
must be in the range 16 to 720 pixels for width and 16 to 576
