3.5-inch Hard Disk Drive
Hard Disk Drive bays are provided at the front of the server.
The disk interface, number and size of Hard Disk Drives depend on server model, as described below. The
IDs of Hard Disk Drive (channel numbers or port numbers) are also predefined.
A Hard Disk Drive mounted in a dedicated drive carrier can be purchased. Install the Hard Disk Drive on the
server with it mounted in the drive carrier.
The Hard Disk Drive bays can accommodate up to 4 Hard Disk Drives. Port numbers have been assigned to
each slot. Refer to the figure below.
Important
Use Hard Disk Drives specified by NEC. Installing a third-party Hard Disk
Drive might cause a failure of the server and the Hard Disk Drive.
Purchase Hard Disk Drives of the following models. (as of June 2011)
N8150-285 (160 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA2/300)
N8150-279 (250 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA2/300)
N8150-280 (500 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA2/300)
N8150-282 (1 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA2/300)
N8150-283 (2 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA2/300)
For updated information, refer to "System Configuration Guide".
Hard Disk Drives with different types of interfaces or different rotational
speeds cannot be installed together.
If using Hard Disk Drives in a RAID System, jumper settings or a change of
cables may be required.
