NOTE: The capacity of the DIMMs recognized by the operating system is
less than the DIMMs' physical capacity. The capacity recognized by the
operating system depends on the number of memory sticks inserted and the
capacity of each stick.
Observe the following when using the memory sparing feature:
The capacity of the additional memory sticks (DIMMs) must the same as the capacity of
the memory sticks installed in the server.
Launch the SETUP utility (referring to System BIOS SETUP on page 4-2) and change the
parameter below. Save the changed parameter and exit SETUP.
[Advanced] [Memory Configuration] [Memory RAS Mode] [Sparing]
After exiting SETUP, launch SETUP again and check that the added DIMMs have the
status "Sparing".
Insert the additional memory sticks in the following sequence:
Memory sparing cannot be used in the following case:
There are DIMMs of varying capacities installed in the server.
