Chapter 2 Preparations

Removal
Remove a Hard Disk Drive in the following procedure.
Important
If you dispose of the removed hard disk drive, follow instructions
described in Chapter 1 (1. Transfer, Movement, and Disposal) in
“Maintenance Guide”.
Note
If you have to remove a failed hard disk drive, check the bay with its DISK
LED lit amber.
1. Refer to Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal) for preparations.
2. Push the lever to unlock and open the
handle.
3. Hold the handle and tray firmly and pull
the Hard Disk Drive out.
4. If you intend to use the server with the
Hard Disk Drive removed, fill the open
bay with the dummy tray.
Note
Do not pull the handle to remove the hard disk drive.
Doing so may damage the handle.
5. Turn on the server, start the SETUP utility, and then specify the boot order from the Boot menu. For
details about the Boot menu, refer to Chapter 2 (1.2.5 Boot) in "Maintenance Guide".
6. Refer to Chapter 2 (1.20 Attaching the Front Bezel) to put the front bezel back.
