2.2.2 Configuration with NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service (for LAN
connection)
Set configuration information for the BMC on the managed component by using the NEC ESMPRO
Manager PXE Service.
The NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service accepts network- boot requests only from the component to be
managed by the DHCP server.
CHECK:
NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service can be installed only on Windows.
There are two methods.
Configuring the IP address assigned by the DHCP.
Configuring the IP address specified in the computer information list.
2.2.2.1 Notes of Configuration with NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service
This section explains particular notes of Configuration with NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service.
-- When you configure the IP address assigned by the DHCP, NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service
configures the BMC to obtain the IP address by the DHCP if the managed component has been installed
the BMC that uses Management LAN Port.
Since the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service does not configure the IP address, the IP address is not
shown in Computer Information list of the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service.
-- If the managed component has been installed Advanced Remote Management Card, the BMC may not
immediately obtain the IP address after NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service configures the BMC to
obtain the IP address by the DHCP. Please turn the managed component AC-OFF and AC-ON because the
BMC try to obtain the IP address whenever the managed component is turned AC-ON.
-- If the DHCP server does not respond within the fixed period of time, The BMC will stop trying to obtain
the IP address. Then NEC ESMPRO Manager cannot search the managed component with the function
"Auto Registration". In this case, please turn the managed component AC-OFF and AC-ON. See 2.2.2.5
Procedure to retry configuration with NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service for retry.
-- If the managed component has been installed the BMC that uses standard port, the managed component
needs to be made network-boot via LAN1. Set the priority to LAN1 to become higher than LAN2 with
BIOS Setup Utility.
-- While the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service is active, do not network-boot a managed component that
has been configured by a method other than using the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service. Otherwise,
the configuration is performed with the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service, resulting in the change of
the original configuration information. In this case, the component may not be managed through the NEC
ESMPRO Manager.
-- Before starting the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE Service, stop other PXE services and software having
the PXE service function in the network. If you use other PXE services and software having the PXE
service function, stop the NEC ESMPRO Manager PXE service and then start them.
This procedure is necessary to start the service that you want to use.
