Chapter 5
Maintenance
This chapter describes the daily maintenance of the server and precautions you should take when
relocating or storing the server.
MAKING BACKUP COPIES
It is important to make backup copies of your valuable data stored on hard disks of the server on
a regular basis. For backup storage devices suitable for the server and backup tools, consult with
your sales agent.
When you have changed the hardware configuration or BIOS configuration, select "System
Information Management" and then "Save" of the Off-line Maintenance Utility to make a backup
copy of the system information.
Also make a backup copy of the disk array configuration data if your system includes a disk
array controller. When your hard disks have been auto-rebuilt due to a failure, it is
recommended you make a backup copy of the configuration data. To make a backup copy of the
configuration data, use the configuration utility that is resident in the FLASH memory on the
optional disk array controller board. Refer to the manual supplied with the board.
