CHOOSE THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE RATING:
Sleeping bags are often rated by the temperate at which they’ll keep you comfortable, so it’s important to consider when
you’ll use them and how high you need the rating to be.
The following ratings are common, with levels for temperate bands and seasons:
Warm: Above 20°C
Mild: Between 10 and 20°C
Cold: Between 0 and 10°C
Summer - over 10°C
Summer, Autumn, and Spring - over 0°C
All season - over -5°C
Mountaineering and cold-weather - under -10°C
CHOOSING YOUR BAG SHAPE
Sleeping bags are offered in mummy, semi-rectangular and rectangular shapes.
Heres a bit of information about each type:
MUMMY-SHAPED:
These sleeping bags have more insulation and less volume so you’ll warm up faster and stay warm.
SEMI-RECTANGULAR BAGS:
Semi-rectangular bags are tapered for warmth and heat retention, and will suit when you’re camping in a range of
temperatures and climates.
RECTANGULAR BAGS:
Make this choice for comfort and space when you’re camping in Summer.
GET THE RIGHT FILL / INSULATION
You can also choose from different insulation weights to suit the climate you’ll be camping in and what you’ll be doing
while you’re there.
Sleeping bags with synthetic filling such as hollow and synthetic fibre are long lasting and quick to dry, but theyre larger
and heavier than down sleeping bags. They’re an ideal choice if you’re planning a family camping adventure.
