5-8 Reply to a call in your Distress Log (DISTRESS LOG)
Your distress log contains the contact details of the 10 most recent relayed distress calls,
so that you can reply to any of these quickly. When the distress log is full, the oldest entry
is overwritten to select the priority level.

1. Press DSC MENU to show the DSC CALL menu.
2. The cursor is at LAST CALL. Move the cursor to DIST CALL and push ENTER.
3. The contact details of the most recent incoming distress call are shown as the rst
entry (01) in the distress log. Move the cursor to step through the distress calls and
select the entry that you want to call.
The details are displayed over two screens that alternate every 1.5 seconds: one screen
shows the location and UTC time of the boat in distress. The other screen shows the
nature of the emergency (if specied) and the MMSI of the boat that relayed the
distress call.
4. The cursor is at CALL BACK. Press ENTER.
5. Select the working channel and press ENTER.
Note: Duplex channels cannot usually be called and are automatically eliminated from
the suggested call list. If the call is to a coast station, the channel is selected automatically.
6. The call details are shown. Press ENTER to send the call.
The Tx icon is shown on the screen while the call is being sent.
7. If the call is acknowledged, press PTT to talk.
8. If there is no reply (UNABLE TO ACKNOWLEDGE); a message asks if you want to retry
(SEND AGAIN?).
9. Select YES, then push ENTER to retry the call.
This cycle repeats twice. If the call still cannot be placed, the radio returns to normal
operation.
