5-3 Send an Individual call (INDIVIDUAL)
You can call anyone who has an DSC equipped radio providing you know their MMSI.

To call another person:
1. Press CALL/MENU to enter DSC mode, then select INDIVIDUAL.
2. The cursor is at ROUTINE. Press ENTER to make a routine call or select to another
priority level: SAFETY or URGENCY.
3. Select MANUAL NEW to call a person that is not in your buddy list, otherwise
select the name of your buddy. Press ENT. If you selected MANUAL NEW, you need to
enter the user MMSI and then press ENT.
4. Select the working channel and press ENT. (Note: Duplex channels cannot usually be
called and are automatically eliminated from the suggested call list. If the call is to a
Coast Station, the radio will recognize this and select the correct channel).
5. The radio summarizes the call details and asks for conrmation to send the call
(SEND?). Press ENT to send the call. The radio goes to CH70 and the Tx is displayed
on the screen while the DSC call is being sent.
6. If the call is acknowledged (ACK), press PTT to talk. If there is no reply, try making the
call again.
5-4 Reply to the Last Call (LAST CALL)
This facility is useful and used frequently.

1. Select DSC CALL then LAST CALL.
2. The contact details of the most recent incoming call are displayed. Press ENT.
3. Choose a working channel to talk on. Select the INTER-SHIP and press ENT. The
radio automatically lists all Inter-ship (Simplex) channels that can be used. Duplex
channels cannot usually be called, however, If you wish to use a Duplex channel,
select MANUAL instead, then select your channel of choice. If the call is to a Coast
Station (MMSI begins with 00) the radio will recognize this and specify the correct
channel to talk on.
4. The call details are shown. Press ENT to send the call. The Tx symbol is displayed on
the LCD while the call is being sent.
5. If the call is acknowledged (INDIV ACK) press PTT to talk. If there is no reply a
message asks if you want to retry (SEND AGAIN?). Press ENT to retry the call.
5-5 Send a Group call (GROUP)
You should have already stored the GROUP MMSI before making the call. Group calls are
always sent with ROUTINE priority.

CALLING . . .
1. Press CALL/MENU to show the DSC CALL menu.
2. The cursor is at LAST CALL. Move the cursor to GROUP and push ENTER. The names
of your groups are displayed.
3. Select the group that you want to call and press ENTER.
