Owner Manual

Native Trails copper basins come to life through a handcrafted process honed by centuries of tradition, skill, and
experience. The hand hammered coppers rich textured glow adds undisputable warmth to every home.
It not only looks and feels good
Historically copper has been utilized for multiple purposes simply because it is such a time
enduring metal and can easily out-live most homes. Copper is a living metal which
develops an increasingly more beautiful patina over time.
Copper can also help to keep the home clean and safe by reducing the risk of
spreading harmful bacteria. Studies have shown that copper has remarkable natural
antibacterial properties which actually kill 99.9% of dangerous bacteria such as E. coli
within hours. Stainless steel and other traditional surfaces allow them to survive for weeks.
Our beautifully unique copper basins will certainly maintain a clean and healthy atmosphere
with every use.
Care and Maintenance of Native Trails copper products
All Finishes: Copper is amazingly easy to maintain, and our finishes are particularly
simple since they do not show fingerprints as stainless steel or shiny copper does. For basic
cleaning simply use a mild soap and warm water. Keep your copper product clean and
dry by wiping it down after each use with a soft cloth. Harsh abrasives or copper cleaners
should never be used on our products as they may affect the finish. For extra protection, a
product such as Faucet Wax +, sold by Flitz may be applied.
Natural, Antique, and Tempered Finishes: Copper is a living metal and the patinas of
our Natural, Antique, and Tempered finishes will all naturally continue to patina over time,
meaning they will become a richer, darker color. Our copper products are not lacquered or
sealed; they will react to their environment as they develop character. (This also keeps their
antibacterial properties intact!) If acidic items such as lemons, ketchup, or red wine sit on
these finishes for an extended period of time, the finish may be affected, but since copper is
a living metal it will heal, or re-patina itself over time, often in a matter of days. The beauty
of copper is that it is ever changing and no two pieces are ever alike.
Brushed Nickel Finish: Our Brushed Nickel finish is achieved by plating nickel over
copper, followed by careful hand-brushing. It is a very easy finish to maintain. Acidic items
left on the nickel finish for extended periods of time may leave a slight dark mark, but this
is easily removed with any brand of Chrome Polish (which can be found at hardware or
automotive supply stores).
Respect for our environment is a core value at Native Trails. This is best exemplified
by the use of high quality recycled copper and reclaimed wood as the primary materials of
our handcrafted creations. When you purchase a Native Trails product, you can feel
confident that you are making an environmentally responsible decision.
