Pressing SHIFT + SYNC sets the Deck to tempo master — the Deck tempo then serves as tem-
po reference for all other synched Decks and FX. When the Deck is set as tempo master, the
MASTER button in the corresponding Deck section in TRAKTOR lights up (see ↑4.7, Synchro-
nization for a tutorial on synchronization and setting the tempo master).
7.6.3 SHIFT Button
The SHIFT button.
The SHIFT button is a modifier: holding SHIFT depressed while using other control elements
grants you access to their secondary function.
This element always has the same functionality, regardless of the Deck flavor (Track Deck or
Remix Deck). It is described in detail in section ↑7.1.3, SHIFT Buttons: Accessing Secondary
Functions above.
Tapping to the Beat
On a Track Deck, tapping the SHIFT button can also help you to define the track’s Beatgrid
manually.
This allows you to redefine the Grid of a track from your S2 on the fly, would the Beatgrid ever
appear to be wrong or missing.
