12 Appendix C – Quick References
This appendix provides you with you Quick Reference tables summing up the basic functionali-
ty of each control element on your TRAKTOR KONTROL S4. This gives you a quick and con-
cise overview of all basic functions of your controller. For more info on each control element,
please refer to the descriptions in chapter ↑6, Hardware Reference.
12.1 Track Deck Quick Reference
Deck controls for when the Deck in focus is a Track Deck.
See section ↑6.3, The Decks for more details on these control elements.
Control element Function
DECK C or DECK D button Normal: switches the focus of your S4 Deck between upper and lower Deck
in TRAKTOR. Lit when lower Deck focused.
SHIFT: switches the Layout in TRAKTOR.
LOAD button Normal: loads selected track on the Deck when using Quick Loading.
SHIFT: unloads the track from the Deck (i.e. it clears the Deck).
Lights up when you press the jog wheel’s top plate.
Jog wheel Outer rim: tempo bending.
Top plate: scratch control (direct control on playback position).
SHIFT + top plate: seek through track (fast forward / rewind).
In Loop: hold LOOP IN / LOOP OUT and spin the jog wheel to fine-tune the
Loop In Point / Loop Out Point.
ON AIR indicator Lit when the focused Deck is audible on the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 main
outputs.
SAMPLES indicator Lit when the lower Deck is a Remix Deck.
DECK A or DECK B indicator Lit when your S4 Deck is focused on the upper Deck (Deck A or Deck B).
