In Native Traktor mode, your TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 will communicate directly with TRAK-
TOR over USB using the Native Instruments proprietary NHL protocol, which features high res-
olution translation of the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 knobs superior to MIDI.
6.10.2 MIDI Mode
The MIDI mode allows you to use your TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 as a normal MIDI controller.
In MIDI mode, the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 will transmit only MIDI data via the virtual MIDI
port that the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 driver will provide to the host computer’s operating sys-
tem.

To switch your TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 between TRAKTOR mode and MIDI mode, hold
SHIFT and press the PREVIEW button.
Press SHIFT + PREVIEW to switch between TRAKTOR mode and MIDI mode.
