Control element Single mode Group mode
FX Button 1-3 FX Button 1: resets all FX parameters
to their default value.
FX Buttons 2 and 3: FX-dependent (lit
when activated).
SHIFT + button: loads a predefined FX
(as set in Preferences > Traktor KON-
TROL S4 > S4 Control Options > Direct
FX 1-3).
Activates/deactivates FX slot 1-3 (lit when
slot activated).
SHIFT + button: loads in this slot the next
FX from FX list (as set in Preferences > Ef-
fects > FX Pre-Selection).
FX Mode button
(MODE)
Normal: switches the FX Unit between Single mode and Group mode (lit when
Group mode activated).
SHIFT: saves current settings as default settings (“snapshot”). These settings will
then be recalled the next time you load this FX, or by pressing the FX Button 1
(Single mode only).
Assigning FX Units to Channels
The FX Units can be assigned to any number of channels in order to process the signals com-
ing from the corresponding Decks. To do this, use the FX Assign buttons on the desired chan-
nels. See section 6.4.3, The Channels and the Crossfader for more info.
You can activate two additional FX Units in the Preferences of TRAKTOR. Using four FX Units
instead of two implies a few changes in the FX routing scheme. Please refer to section 7.4.3,
Using Four FX Units for more info.
6.6 The Loop Recorder
The Loop Recorder allows you to seamlessly record a piece of audio material coming from vari-
ous sources and directly blend it into your mix. Furthermore, it allows you to record many lay-
ers on the same loop (overdubbing).
