If you don’t want to use Samples at all, or if you don’t want to mix Track Deck controls and
Remix Deck controls, you can activate alternate functions for these Sample Play buttons in
Preferences > Traktor KONTROL S4 > S4 Control Options. For example, they can be used
as Beatjump buttons or as additional Hotcue buttons. Please refer to section ↑7.3, S4 Con-
trol Options for more info.
Sample Slot States
The LED of each REMIX SLOTS button indicates its current state:
Remix Slot Play button Remix Slot’s state
Unlit Empty Sample Slot.
Dimmed Sample loaded but stopped or muted.
Lit Sample loaded and playing.
Capturing a Sample from another Deck
If a track is currently loaded into a Track Deck, you can directly export a Sample from that
track by pressing an unlit REMIX SLOTS button. Select the Deck to be captured from with the
Capture Source selection drop-down menu in the Remix Deck's Header.

Once you press an unlit REMIX SLOTS button, a Sample is copied from the current playback
position to the Remix Slot:
▪ If the current playback position is within an active Loop, the Sample is a copy of the
Loop.
▪ If the current playback position is outside any active Loop, the Sample starts at the cur-
rent playback position and its size is defined by the selected loop size (as displayed by
the Loop Size Display).
