Selecting Sounds and Groups via the Select mode.
You have following selection tools at your disposal:
Selection Tool Description
Pads Press any pad to set the focus to that particular Sound slot. The pad lights up to
indicate that the Sound slot is focused (and selected). Unlit pads indicate unse-
lected, empty Sound slots, and half-lit pads indicate unselected Sounds. The se-
lection behavior depends on the state of the MULTI option (F3, see below).
GROUP then pads Press GROUP, then any pad 9–16 to set the focus to that particular Group in the
current Group bank. The pad lights up to indicate that the Group is focused (and
selected). Unlit pads 9–16 cannot be pressed (they don’t correspond to any exist-
ing Group), and half-lit pads indicate unselected Groups. The selection behavior
depends on the state of the MULTI option (F3, see below).
Left/Right Arrow buttons
(< BANK >)
Selects the previous/next Group bank, respectively.
F3 (MULTI)
Enables/disables the multiple selection mode. Toggling this button does nothing to
the current focus nor selection but changes the behavior of the selection process
— see below.
The MULTI option (F3) switches between single and multiple selection:
▪ When MULTI is disabled (F3 off):
◦ Pressing GROUP then the pad of an unselected Group, or pressing the pad of an unse-
lected Sound, sets the focus to that Group/Sound and clears the current Group/Sound
selection (only the focused Group/Sound is then selected). The pad lights up.
◦ Pressing GROUP then the pad of a selected Group, or pressing the pad of a selected
Sound, sets the focus to that Group/Sound without changing the current Group/Sound
selection. The pad stays fully lit.
▪ When MULTI is enabled (F3 on):
