Getting Started Placing Considerations It is better to place this hub where they will not be subjected fo extreme temperatures, humidity, or excessive electromagnetic interference. Do not block the ventilation holes on the side. Installing Your Hub Installation couldn't be easier. Only two steps and you're in business: 1. Plug: Plug the cable of the connected device to the port of the hub 2.
A. Connecting to a Workstation Usually 10Mbps or 100Mbps workstations are connected to Port 2-8, while other hubs or switches are connected to Port 1 for up linking. If you connect the workstation to Port 1, remember to set it as the Normal Position. Set to “Normal” Figure 6. Connecting to a Workstation B. Connecting to a Hub/Switch Either the connected hub/switch or the 10/100 Hub should be set ta the UP LINK position, e.g.
Application Scenarios This section gives some examples of huw to place the 10/100 auto sensing hubs so as to achieve the maximum utilization from your networking hardware and for your future growth. Scenario I. Connect Cablecast Modem to your LAN ~~ (Local Area Network) Method 1. Directly connect the Cablecast Coder to the up link por (set to the Up link position) of hub by Cat. 3 or Cat.
