Device Problems Possible Solutions
Bad or no GPS reception.
Make sure that the GPS antenna has a clear sight to the sky.
The GPS reception can be altered by the following:
- bad weather
- dense and high obstacles (e.g. trees or buildings)
- other devices installed in the car that use radio
frequency
- tinted or reflective windshields
No blue arrow appears indicating my
position. Navigation does not start.
Verify the GPS status icon on the main menu, the map
screen or the GPS data screen. It is likely that the system
cannot determine your GPS position. Drive on to go to a
place where a good GPS signal reception is guaranteed.
GPS calculates correct tracking data but I
don't see the blue arrow (yellow at night)
that normally indicates my position.
You see the large Follow icon on the screen. Tap on this
icon to enable the Lock-to Position function that restores the
map to your present position.
The blue arrow (yellow at night) indicates
my position but I don't see the route
(green or red line) and obtain no voice
guidance.
There may be no active route. Check the upper-left screen
corner in Cockpit view to see if the icon indicating the next
turn is shown. If this field is blank, no route has been
planned. You have to create a route first. It is a common
mistake to search for a destination, view it on the map but
forget to tap Route To from the Cursor menu to create the
route. Make sure you follow these steps or plan your route
via the "Find and Go" button. This will calculate the route
automatically as soon as the destination has been selected.
I cannot see the Follow icon on my
screen, however, the map doesn't turn
according to my driving direction.
Look for a small "N" on the compass icon or for an aircraft
icon. It is likely that you have toggled to North orientation
map mode or Overview mode accidentally. Tap this icon to
toggle to driving direction mode.
