Adjusting the Virtual Height (4+5)
These transparent buttons only appear while the Zoom function is enabled in the Settings menu
(see page 59). As already explained, this function changes the vertical map viewing angle in 3D
mode. You may change the angle through a wide range, starting from a fully vertical view
(equivalent to 2D) to a low-height view giving a wide view ahead. The automatic smart Zoom
function will take care of setting the height while you are navigating (lower height when the next
road junction is still at a certain distance, higher when approaching a traffic junction in order to
allow a better detailed view of the manoeuvre). If you set the virtual height manually, automatic
height adjustment will not take place any more (although automatic zoom and rotation will still
occur). However, you may set the function to zoom in or out automatically a few seconds after
you have manually changed the zoom level. To do so, go to "Advanced Settings => Smart
Zoom".
Map alignment and Overview (7)
The map can be displayed in three different modes:
The common map orientation for navigating is the driving direction, i.e. the map
automatically orientates to the direction you are driving. In this mode, an arrow (compass)
will indicate North.
Tap this icon to switch the map view to North orientation. Now the map is aligned to North.
The icon changes accordingly to indicate the new mode.
Tap the icon again the switch to Overview (aircraft icon). This mode is equivalent to North
orientation with one exception: the zoom level is preset in this mode in order to give you a
better tracking of your current position on the map. The arrow representing your current
location is fixed in the centre of the screen. While moving the map in Overview mode the
Freeze button appears. When you press it, the map will move to indicate your current
location in the centre of the map.
You may customize the program so that it automatically toggles to Overview mode during
navigation when the next road junction is far away. To do so, go to Advanced Settings =>
Smart Zoom => Enable Overview Mode.
