Scope Model SMD-04
The i-explore™ scope is equipped with a cool built in LED
illumination system for maximum viewing ability. Be sure to keep
the box and foam packing for storage purposes, or in the event
your scope ever needs to be transported or shipped.
Invert the i-explore™ scope and remove the cover from the
battery compartment to install 2 AA batteries (not included) as
indicated (negative/flat end goes against the spring). Replace the
battery compartment cover and set up your i-explore™ scope on
a level surface such as a desk or tabletop. Depress the red button
on the base of the scope to activate the light.
The binocular head is inclined at a 45º angle, with an adjustable
inter-pupillary distance, to provide a comfortable observation
position. This means the individual eye tubes can be moved closer
together or further apart based on the distance between the user’s
eyes. Move the eye tubes while looking through the eyepieces until
the most comfortable image is obtained. Place any specimen on the
stage, and if necessary, use the clips to hold it in place. The stage
plate can be used with either the white or black side, to provide
contrast with your specimen.
Look through the eyepiece and turn the focusing knob up or down
slowly as needed until the image is the clearest. You will see your
specimen magnified twenty times its normal size!
Focusing Tips: For the i-explore™ scope to be in focus, it needs
about 3 inches of space between the lens and the specimen known
as the “working distance”. This means that if your specimen is too
tall, even though it fits under the scope, you may not be able to
focus clearly. Keep in mind that three-dimensional images have
many different “levels” of visibility under increased magnification.
It is normal for one feature of the specimen to be in sharp focus
and the other levels appear slightly out of focus. Simply adjust the
focusing to view the different sections of your specimen as needed.
You can use the i-explore™ scope to observe any variety of
specimens: insects, coins, currency, stamps, jewelry, plants, hair or
fur, rocks or gemstones. Try looking at your fingertip and see your
skin magnified! The i-explore™ scope can easily be taken
outdoors for field observation, allowing you to explore the world
in 3D!
Maintenance: Turn off the scope when not in use. Remove
batteries if not using the scope for long periods of time. Avoid
touching the glass surfaces. Keep the scope covered with the
enclosed plastic bag, or repack in its box when not in use, to
prevent dust settling into the lens. Clean metal parts as needed by
wiping with a clean, damp cloth. To clean lens surfaces, blow dust
off or brush gently with a camel hair brush. Use a slightly
moistened cotton tip swab to gently wipe the glass lens, then use a
dry swab or lens tissue to remove any remaining moisture from the
lens. Do not attempt to disassemble the scope.
