Replacingthebackupbattery
Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.
DANGER
Ifthebackupbatteryisincorrectlyreplaced,thereisdangerofanexplosion.Thebackupbattery
containsasmallamountofharmfulsubstances.Toavoidpossibleinjury:
•ReplaceonlywithabatteryofthetyperecommendedbyLenovo.
•Keepthebatterypackawayfromre.
•Donotexposeittoexcessiveheat.
•Donotexposeittowaterorrain.
•Donotshort-circuitit.
•Donotdrop,crush,puncture,orsubjecttostrongforces.Batteryabuseormishandlingcan
causethebatterytooverheat,whichcancausegassesorameto“vent”fromthebattery
packorcoincell.
Toreplacethebackupbattery,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputer,thendisconnecttheacpoweradapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
2.Loosenthescrews1thatsecurethebasecoverassembly.Thenremovethebasecoverassemblyas

3.Removethebasecoverassembly.See“Replacingthebasecoverassembly”onpage65.
4.Detachtheconnector1,andthenremovethebackupbattery2.
