addressing (i.e., the ISP is assigning the IP addressing), then this Client MultiVOIP will use
dynamic addressing, and the IP Address field in the Identifed By group will be greyed out
(inactive). If the Proxy Server is using static addressing, then the Type group would be static
and the IP Address field in the Identified By group would contain the IP address of the Proxy
Server. If the Client MultiVOIP were to be connected directly to the Internet, then its
addressing mode would have to be Static. If the Host unit is using static addressing, then the
IP Address field has to contain the IP Address of the Client MultiVOIP.
When the Client unit is identified, then the second phone number is added to the phone
directory database, and your two-unit VOIP network is setup.
So, if a sales person in the Sales Office picked up the telephone and dialed extension 4124,
the extension routes the telephone call to the VOIP network. After the second dial tone, the
person would dial extension 201. The telephone at the Remote Sales office would ring and a
telephone conversation is initiated just as if the Remote Sales office had been called over the
regular telephone network.
Similarly, if a person at the Remote Sales office picked up extension 201 and dialed extension
101, the MultiVOIP at the Sales Office would generate a second dial tone and the person at
the Remote Sales office would then dial any extension at the Sales Office, or the person could
then dial a 9, for example, and get an outside line of the Sales Office Public Switched
Telephone network. This person could then dial any telephone number, as if calling from the
Sales Office.
