InstallingtheUSBVirtualCOMPort
ThissectiondescribeshowtoinstallthevirtualCOMport.Afteryouinstalltheport,installthecorrectmodem
drivertotheCOMport.
BeforeYouBegin
Beforeyouinstalltheportanddriver,notethefollowing:

DownloadtheuserguidesandthedriverinstallationfilefromtheMulti‐Techwebsite.Storethesefilesina
locationwhereyoucanaccessthemduringinstallation.
● WindowsXP,VISTA,2003Server,2008Server,Windows7(32‐bitor64‐bit),Windows8,Linux(Kernel2.6.xx
usingCDC‐ACMmodule)aresupported.
Note:SomeversionsofWindowshaveanissuewiththeCDC‐ACMdriver(Usbser.sys).Ifyouexperience
connectionproblems—suchasproblemswithfiledownloads andwebpagesnotloading—updatetheversion
ofUsbser.sys.Microsoftarticle925681documentsthisfixableissue.
● ForLinux,a2.6kernelisrequired.YoucanusethestandardCDC‐ACMdriver.
● Afterinstallingthevirtualcomport,youcaninstallthecorrectmodemdrivertothecomport.Beforeyou
installthemodemdriver,ensuretheUSBportoftheMTCMRisconnectedwithaSIMcard
ToinstalltheUSBvirtualCOMport:
1. EnsuretheSIMcard(ifapplicable )isinstalled,thenpowerontheMTCMR
2. EnsurethattheUSBcableisconnectedtoyourcomputer.
3. Ifyouhavenotalreadydoneso,unziptheinstallationfilethatyoudownloadedfromtheMulti‐Techwebsite.
4. Fromtheareawhereyouextractedthezipfile,opentheDriversfolder.
5. Runinstall.bat.
6. Tostartthedriverpre‐installation,clickNext.
