On Line
Switches the state of communication between computer and Mopier ON (on line) or
OFF (off line). Switching from online to off line stops printing as soon as possible.
Select* Selects a desired menu item choice.
Control Panel Display
The control panel displays messages in one or two lines of the character display.
• Ready indicates that the Mopier is ready to accept data.
• Status messages tell you what the HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier is doing at a given time.
• Attendance messages tell you to perform some action, such as adding more paper or
clearing a paper jam.
• Error messages communicate data and print errors. The HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier stops
printing for ten seconds, displays a message, and then automatically attempts to return to
the online state.
• Service messages communicate an HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier failure. Some errors can be
cleared by pressing the Select* key or by cycling the power (turning the power off and
then back on). Other errors stop all Mopier operations and require intervention from
service personnel.
Settings and Defaults
The HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier makes printing decisions based on temporary settings or permanent
defaults. Settings that you send from software applications override the HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier
defaults. For example, the HP LaserJet 5Si Mopier’s control panel default is portrait for print
orientation. You can request landscape orientation from your software and that will override this
default. Temporary settings remains in effect until the print job is finished.
