Minimum Configuration for Eterm for DOS
The minimum configuration required for Eterm for DOS to operate correctly varies depending
on how your PC is connected to the host.
When Connecting Through a TCP/IP Network Connection
For Eterm for DOS to operate correctly when connecting through a TCP/IP Ethernet connection,
you must have the following options set:
Port – Choose Network-Telnet.
Host – Enter the IP address of the host system. You can also enter the host name if you
are using a hosts file or a Domain Name Server (DNS).
Term ID – Enter your system login name, unless the system administrator instructs
otherwise.
When Connecting Through a TTY Port
For Eterm for DOS to operate correctly when connecting through a TTY port, you must have the
following options set:
Port – Choose the COM port that your PC uses to connect to the host system.
Speed – Select the baud rate that is equal to that of the host TTY. We recommend
selecting 19200. Contact your system administrator for the appropriate setting to use.
Connect String – Leave this field blank.
Term ID – Leave this field blank.
When Connecting Through a Modem
For Eterm for DOS to operate correctly when connecting through a modem, you must have the
following options set:
Port – Choose the COM port that your PC uses to dial out to the host system.
Speed – Select the baud rate equal to that of the host TTY. We recommend selecting
19200. Contact your system administrator for the appropriate setting to use.
Connect String – Enter the modem commands and the host modem telephone number
that you want to use to connect, such as ATDT18005551234. For valid modem
commands, see the documentation that accompanied your modem. If ^M is used in the
CONNECT STRING field, Eterm for DOS performs a carriage return when processing
the connect string.
Term ID – Leave this field blank.
