Configuring Eterm for DOS for a TTY Port Connection
The first time you run Eterm, the Eterm for DOS main menu appears and you must enter
configuration data. You can change your configuration setup at any time.
Note: From the emulator screen, press Ctrl-Print Screen to access the main
menu.
The following options are available on the main menu:
Quit – Quit Eterm for DOS.
Continue – Close the main menu and continue using Eterm for DOS.
Reconnect – Close the main menu and attempt to reconnect to the host system using the
current configuration settings.
Configure – Open a dialog box to change the current Eterm for DOS configuration.
Debug – Switch to the debugging screen, assuming that Enable Debug is set to ON.
Use the Arrow keys to select commands from the Eterm for DOS menu, and then press Enter to
execute the command. You can also type the highlighted letter of the command to execute it.
To configure Eterm for DOS for a TTY port connection:
1. From the Eterm for DOS main menu, select the CONFIGURE command, and press
Enter.
The Configure screen appears.
Note: In the Configure screen, use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to
select fields. Use the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys to choose options
for the selected field.
2. In the PORT field, choose the COM port that your PC uses to connect to the host system.
The HOST field becomes inactive.
3. In the SPEED field, set the baud rate to equal that of the host TTY.
We recommend using 19200. Contact your system administrator for the appropriate
setting to use.
4. For serial connections, leave the CONNECT STRING field blank.
5. In the PRINTER field, choose the LPT port or NONE.
6. To enable or disable HPCL PRINTING choose ON or OFF, respectively.
If PRINTER is set to a valid LPT port and HPCL PRINTING is set to ON, using
the Shift-Print Screen key sequence causes Eterm to send line HPCL commands to
the printer to draw the screen.
