Configuring Eterm for DOS with an Ethernet
Connection
The first time you run Eterm, the Eterm for DOS main menu appears and you must enter
configuration data. You can change your configuration setup at any time.
Note: From the emulator screen, press Ctrl-Print Screen to access the main
menu.
The following options are available on the main menu:
Quit – Eterm for DOS.
Continue – Close the main menu and continue using Eterm for DOS.
Reconnect – Close the main menu and attempt to reconnect to the host system using the
current configuration settings.
Configure – Open a dialog box to change the current Eterm for DOS configuration.
Debug – Switch to the debugging screen, assuming that Enable Debug is set to ON.
Use the Arrow keys to select commands from the Eterm for DOS menu, and then press Enter to
execute the command. You can also type the highlighted letter of the command to execute it.
To configure Eterm for DOS:
1. From the Eterm for DOS main menu, select the CONFIGURE command, and press
Enter.
The Configure screen appears.
Note: In the Configure screen, use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to
select fields. Use the Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys to choose options
for the selected field.
2. In the PORT field, choose Network-Telnet.
The SPEED and CONNECT STRING fields become inactive.
3. In the HOST field, type the IP address of the host system.
You can also type in the host name if you are using a hosts file or a Domain Name Server
(DNS). If you do not know the IP address or host name, contact your system
administrator.
Note: Do not confuse the Host IP address with the IP address of your computer.
Each computer has a unique IP address.
4. In the PRINTER field, choose the LPT port or NONE.
